Hello and Welcome to old friends and new acquaintances.
You are now in Emerald Bead land. Be aware that if you are trying to go to the Sister City in the land of OZ you need to get back on the Yellow brick road and go left where you went right, and right where you went left.
Emerald-Beads.com is a place where you can find all kinds of natural gemstones: raw, polished, carved, made into beads, cabochons, and faceted gemstones. Many gems have an incredible beauty in their natural state, and emeralds are one of these.
Emeralds are from the Beryl family of minerals. Beryl, the primary ore of beryllium, occurs in white, green, blue-green, greenish yellow, blue, yellow, and pink colors, with a vitreous luster. The gem varieties includes emerald, aquamarine, morganite (pink beryl), and heliodor (golden beryl). The Chemical composition is beryllium (14%) aluminum (67%) silicate (67%), usually containing alkali ions, other minerals, water, and gases. It crystallizes in hexagonal shapes in the dihexagonal-dipyramidal class, sometimes in well formed hexagonal prisms with pinacoidal (flat) terminations. Beryl melts to liquid at about 1475 C. The hardness is 7.5-8 on the Mohs scale, and the Specific Gravity ranges from 2.66-2.83.
This translates to beautiful lustrous gems, reasonably hard, often in wonderful naturally occurring shapes..... I hope to post many photos later in July.....
